The Police Service of Pakistan had several Goans who served the
force with great distinction - in administration, crime and traffic.
These men were of staunch character, honest in their dealings and
worked diligently beyond their call of duty. Their services were
lauded by the government, aptly decorated and continued to serve the
force until retirement.
The Police force included Cyril de Souza (PPM), SP who was also
Principal of the Police Training School, Shadadpur and commanded
great respect among his colleagues, having trained many police
officers of high repute and integrity. Cyril Almeida, SP-Traffic (he
was one of the most respected and well-known police officers of his
time. The Karachi Traffic Police built a special Police Kiosk called
'Almeida Chowk' on the main Shahrah-e-Faisal (Drigh Road), opposite
the Cemetery) to honor their colleague.
Then we also had Hubert D'Cruz SP (Sanghar), Eric Mendonca SP,
Walter Rodrigues, Tony Rodrigues, Anthony Franco, Ronald de Souza,
Martin D'Souza, William Monteiro and Eddie Martyres (who at the
request of the Pakistan government, wrote "The History of the Hurs").
John Cyril Falcao was a DSP-CID.
There are no Goans in Pakistan's Police force anymore.
